Pronunciation

Kx Markdown can associate pronunciation guidance with vocabulary using the vocab instruction.

- apellido [vocab: "ah-peh-YEE-doh", ans: "surname"]

The text before the instruction is the vocabulary being practiced.

The vocab value contains a pronunciation guide.

Example

- Buenos días. [vocab: "BWEH-nohs DEE-ahs", ans: "Good morning."]
- apellido [vocab: "ah-peh-YEE-doh", ans: "surname"]
- profesor [vocab: "proh-feh-SOR", ans: "professor"]
- hola [vocab: "OH-lah", ans: "hello"]

Pronunciation guidance can be used together with an answer.

- gracias [vocab: "GRAH-syahs", ans: "thank you"]

Optional Pronunciation

Not every vocabulary line needs pronunciation guidance.

For example:

- por favor [ans: "please"]

A vocabulary instruction may also appear without a pronunciation value:

- adiós [vocab:, ans: "goodbye"]

This allows pronunciation information to be added selectively as it becomes available.
